Gabrijela 'Gabi' Novak (pronounced [ɡâbi nôʋaːk]; born 8 July 1936) is a German-born Croatian pop and jazzsinger. She became famous in the 1960s. She was the wife of legendary Croatian singer-songwriterArsen Dedić, with whom she was married from April 1973, until his death in August 2015.
Biography[edit]
Gabi was born to a Croatian father Đuro Novak of Hvar origin and a German mother Elizabeth of Berlin origin. She spent her childhood in birth town Berlin, but later she moved to Yugoslavia, and her father Đuro was killed in 1945. She was married to Stipica Kalogjera, a Croatian composer, but in 1970 they were divorced, and in 1973 she was married to Arsen Dedić,[1] a renowned singer-songwriter who also composed many of her songs.[2] She also has a child, from a relationship with Arsen Dedić, a son Matija, a famous Croatian pianist.
